BC’s Post, Pitt’s Carrington Earn ACC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Boston College graduate center/forward Quinten Post was named the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week, while Pitt freshman guard Carlton ‘Bub’ Carrington was voted the Rookie of the Week for the second straight week.
ACC men’s basketball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a 15-member media panel and announced on Mondays throughout the regular season.
Post averaged 18.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.0 steals per game in a 2-0 week for Boston College, which is 4-0 this season and off to the program’s best start since the 2007-08 campaign. A native of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Post recorded double-doubles in the Eagles’ wins over Richmond and Harvard and is BC’s first ACC Player of the Week honoree since Jerome Robinson on Feb. 12, 2018. On Wednesday, he had 17 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and a blocked shot in a win over Richmond. Post followed that up with a career night versus Harvard on Saturday, registering 20 points to go along with new career-highs with 19 rebounds and five blocked shots. He added two assists and a steal in the victory.
The last two ACC players to log at least 20 points/19 rebounds/5 blocks/2 assists in a game were Duke’s Shelden Williams (Duke) on Dec. 4, 2005 vs. Virginia Tech (21p/19r/5b/3a) and Wake Forest’s Tim Duncan on March 14, 1997 vs. Saint Mary’s (22p/22r/5b/2a)
Carrington averaged 18.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, while shooting 52.6% (10-of-19) from the field, including 50% (7-of-14) from 3-point range as Pitt posted wins over Florida Gulf Coast and Jacksonville. The Baltimore, Maryland, native became the first Pitt freshman to score 15 or more points in each of the first four games of the season. He opened the week with a season-high 19 points to go along with four rebounds, and seven assists against FGCU. Carrington knocked down five 3-point field goals and finished with 17 points, three rebounds, and four assists as Pitt topped the 100-point mark for the second time this season in the Friday win over Jacksonville.
