Emirates adds SAF on flights from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

Sustainable aviation fuel provider Neste will deliver more than 2 million gallons of blended SAF to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport throughout the course of 2024 for Emirates flights from the Netherlands hub.

The carrier’s deal with Neste, first announced in 2023, was officially ‘activated’ this month and will provide a total of 700,000 gallons of neat SAF that will then be combined with conventional Jet A-1 fuel and used for Emirates flights departing from Schiphol.

Emirates’ partnership with Neste includes supplying SAF to fuelling systems at Singapore Changi Airport “in the next few months” and represents one of the largest volumes of SAF that the airline has purchased to date.

Emirates deputy president and COO, Adel Al Redha, said: “Strong partnerships like this [with Neste], especially at major air transport hubs such as Amsterdam, lay the foundation for how we can work with partners and airports to increase access to and availability of SAF across our network.”

The carrier currently operates flights with blended SAF from Paris, Lyon and Oslo. It also integrated SAF into Dubai Airport fuelling systems in October 2023, allocating the SAF to a number of routes, including a flight to Sydney.
